Costruendo il MUDI

Discovery Reply sponsors the exhibition "Costruendo il MUDI" which, from 14th December 2008 to 30th January 2009, sets out at the Istituto degli Innocenti the top projects of the international tender for the design and development of the new museum.

In the same way in the the fifteenth the founders of the institution chose an innovative project by Filippo Brunelleschi, for the "Spedale dei Fanciulli " an innovative project by Filippo Brunelleschi, now the Istituto degli Innocenti asks to the best contemporary architecture designers the study of the new MUDI to be placed in the Renaissance structure, with exhibition spaces and functions responding to modern age needs. In early 2008 the Institute has launched an international architectural design tender for the new museum. The top ten finalists projects, including the winner, will be exhibited in the gallery of the Institute.

The inauguration will be on Saturday Dec. 13 at 11 a.m., with the proclamation of the winner. Two relevant recent restoration works will be presented during exhibition: Coronation of the Virgin and the Saints made in 1460 by Blacks of Bicci and Madonna and Child with Saints (1493) by Piero di Cosimo.

The exhibition will also be an opportunity to tell through panels and video clips the progress project MUDI from 2004 to today and to show in advance some of the monumental spaces already recovered for the enlargement of the museum.
